Get ready to lock and load as Shrapnel, the highly anticipated web3 shooter, gears up for its explosive early access debut on the Epic Games Store.

Early Access Details

Shrapnel, the Call of Duty-style blockchain game, is opening its doors for an early access event from February 8th to February 10th, running daily from 1 pm to 9 pm PT. Named Shrapnel Training Exercises One (STX1), the event promises players a first-hand look at the game’s mechanics, featuring one character at their peak progression level.

What’s in Store for Players?

Participants will have the chance to trial three distinct firearms, a grenade, and a special “Sigma ability.” To join the fray, gamers must purchase an “Extraction Pack” access key. The basic pack is available at $19.99, while the premium packs, offering additional in-game items, consumable packs, and skins, are priced at $49.99 and $99.99.

Compete for Cash Prizes

The early access period isn’t just about testing gameplay; it’s also a competition with a hefty prize pool of $100,000, courtesy of RNGFoundation. The top player will walk away with $10,000, with second and third places earning $5,000 and $2,500, respectively.

Shrapnel’s Blockchain Backbone

Developed on the Avalanche blockchain by Neon Machine, Shrapnel is on track for a 2025 release as a free-to-play title. Crypto.news revealed last October that Neon Machine garnered a significant $20 million in Series A funding, with Polychain Capital at the helm. The investment round also saw participation from Griffin Gaming Partners, Brevan Howard Digital, Franklin Templeton, IOSG Ventures, and Tess Ventures.

Looking Forward

With its unique blend of traditional gaming mechanics and blockchain technology, Shrapnel is poised to make a significant impact on the gaming landscape. Keep an eye out for further updates as we approach the early access event and eventual full release.
